“My name is Mary Cochenour and I am a middle -aged lawyer. But wait, don't go. I haven't always been a lawyer. The law came late in my life. Before this lawyer gig, I was a newspaper journalist, a ski patroller, a Grand Canyon River Guide, and a Backcountry Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service in Desolation Wilderness, Lake Tahoe Basin.

I've logged thousands of backpacking miles, including the John Muir Trail, the Wonderland Trail, the Circuit in Torres Del Paine, Chile, Canyonlands, Zion, Paria-Buckskin Gulch narrows, and so many beautiful sections of trail in western Montana, where I live now.”

1:00 – 2:00 Bringing WLM to your Community

Women Leading Montana is a new, nonprofit organization made up of women across Montana who have an interest in personal and professional growth. This is achieved through continued learning, shared experiences, open, honest, and respectful dialogue, and an environment that provides support and builds confidence.

We are convening with women currently leading in Montana, willing to acknowledge the differences among us and use those differences to support one another in a real way - beyond pure networking, beyond cocktail party conversations. We’re talking lasting, meaningful relationship building here.

We bring together a mix of geographically diverse attendees, from Montana urban to rural regions. We are professional corporate leaders, government administrators, health professionals, full-time stay-at-home mothers. We are democrats, republicans, independents, and none-of-the-above.

For Women Leading Montana, our opportunities are as endless as the Montana sky. We intend for this group to grow from the ground up and become a significant force in our Montana landscape, providing leadership, education, and support for women regardless of their professional affiliation or geography.
